The City and Guilds 2882 level 2 Certificate and level 3 Diploma in Providing Electronic Security and Emergency Systems


This qualification is ideal for engineers and others working in this industry. It will enable you to develop and demonstrate your technical knowledge and skills.

You must be aged 16 or over to register for this qualification.

A City & Guilds qualification is proof that you have the right skill to do your job well.

The level 2 Certificate is intended for personnel employed in an engineering position within one or more of the following specialist areas of the electronic security and emergency systems industry

Intruder Alarm Systems

Fire Detection & Alarm(FD&A) Systems

Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Systems

Access Control Systems

Level 3 has been designed to support engineers in more senior roles in the electronic security and emergency systems industry e.g. Project/Contract Managers, Technician Engineers/Senior Installation Engineers and Supervisors, Sales Engineers, Commercial Managers, Site/Workshop Managers.

To achieve the level 2 qualification there is no need to attend college or lectures. You will be issued with a number of books for you to work through, with quizzes and tests to complete as you progress.

These will build into a portfolio of evidence, which will cover all aspects of your qualification.

Our assessor will visit you on set dates on sites that you select, so you can truly study as you work.








Your portfolio


Your portfolio will consist of an a4 ring binder and into this you need put in photographs of your work, answers to quizzes, details of actual work you have carried out and copies of the reports from your assessor.

The Level 2 Certificate in Providing Electronic Security and Emergency Systems qualification is comprised of two pathways. To achieve either pathway a minimum of 21 credits must be successfully completed from the units below. Different units are allocated different credits.

This will be discussed and a plan formulated during the first assessor visit.

Although the first visit is an important part of the assessment planning process no charge is made for this visit if you decide not to continue. If you decide the 2882 is the path for you a learning contract will be drawn up.

To achieve the qualification, assessments of real life installations are required, so it is important that you have sites that we can inspect to achieve this. With careful planning it is possible to achieve the qualification with three to four site visits.

The units to be covered are listed below. Some units are compulsory some are optional, but there is no need to make a plan until we have visited you.

Pathway 2 - Preventative Maintenance of Electronic Security and Emergency Alarms Systems - Mandatory Units, 001, 002, 003, Mandatory Technical Units 012, 014, 015 & 016 . Optional Units - 004, 005, 006, 007, 008, 009, 010 and 011

Unit 002 Communicate effectively with others

Unit 003 Portray a positive personal image

Unit 004 Protecting from the risk of violence at work

Unit.005 Work effectively with other agencies

Unit 006 Promote a healthy and safe workplace

Unit 007 Assess and address risk to the environment.

Unit 008 Use radio communications effectively

emergency systems

Unit 010 Install cabling for electronic security and emergency systems

Unit 011 Install Electronic Security and Emergency Systems Equipment

Unit 012 Test and confirm operation of electronic security systems

Unit 014 Maintain the performance of electronic security and emergency systems

Unit 015 Diagnose and rectify faults on electronic security and emergency systems

Unit 016 Handover of electronic security and emergency systems to customers





The cost of this course including your

Portfolio,

The City and Guilds registration fee,

The initial site visit and up to three more visits

is only £1250.


There is no vat on this fee but it is subject to terms and conditions.

For your Electrical work we can send you a qualified approved Electrician.  Who can carry out all your Inspection and testing certification.


We supply and install all types of public address systems including induction loops for the hard of hearing. We can interface your pa system into your cctv or alarm system allow live verbal intervention. We can provide systems interfaced with the Fire Alarm to provide evacuation instructions.


We have our own in house training facilities and can offer training courses for First Aid including First Aid at Work. We can offer basic Health and Safety Training and we can bring our Fire Extinguisher Training Trailer to your premises so your staff can get hands on practice with putting out real Fires.


We supply a range of First Aid Equipment everything from a Plaster to a PAD (Public Access Defibrillator). We are approved suppliers of the Heatsine and CardiAid AED (Automatic External Defibrillator), and are happy to give a free no obligation demonstration to individuals, groups or firms anywhere in the Nottingham and Derby Area.
