Spirituality has been seen as part of the pathway to health and healing since historical times.
In ancient times the priests, shamans or medicine man was who you sought out when healing was required. The early Christian
Monasteries and Abbeys always had a garden where healing herbs were grown. In the last couple of centuries the gulf between
the medical profession and Spirituality has grown and it is only through the work of groups like the Spiritual Companions Trust
that we are starting to see Spirituality and Wellness coming back together to give a truly holistic approach to healing.
The Spiritual CompanionsTrust is an educational charity whose focus is a holistic and person-centred approach to practical
spirituality and its health benefits. The Spiritual Companions are trained in a holistic and person-centred approach to giving
emotional and spiritual care. Spiritual Companions are part of a professional network and agree to work to a strict code of
conduct. The approach is holistic and person-centred and is not aligned with any particular faith or community. Is a fundamental
and crucial element in the healthy, development, fulfilment and wellness of individuals, communities and the world as a whole.
The approach celebrates diversity and encourages everyone to develop their own understanding and definition of spirituality.
Life is a spiritual journey and there are useful tools that can be used to support this journey.
We may talk about your spiritual development, exploring that you are on a life-long journey developing heart and mind,
compassion and consciousness.
We may explore together the ways in which you can best develop and deepen your connection with the wonder and energy of
life, and we may take some quiet time together, meditation can be healing, reassuring and supportive, we may pause, together
for a while and become mindfully present.
